Just a little Joke by zillabean Just a little Joke by zillabean
A portrait-style sketch of J.J., from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, as requested by :iconthat-one-gal: from my Holiday Sketch Giveaway ([link])!

I honestly had a hard time selecting a winner for the sketch simply because there were so many fun ideas, but in the end J.J. won out since it was something that I'd never tackled before, and his design looked really fun to draw. I actually went a little overboard and laid down some brush pen inks over top of it 'cuz I was having so much fun. Plus, everyone loves a little Joker ;)

I hope I did okay, :iconthat-one-gal:! Enjoy :)

I'm still in the decision stage for the Layton pieces, so for those of you who submitted ideas for that, please bear with me :)

Hey, I reported on that girl that had traced this and they finally took it down!

It's a really nice drawing and I think it's really cool of you to do things like this for people that probably couldn't afford it normally.

I think you should go back on some of your other sketchy drawings like this one and color them!  They're really fantastic and underrated!

Good luck to ya!

Thank you very much for your aid!  I really appreciate the support :)

And yeah, sometimes I like throwing together little random contests and giveaways just for kicks, because I like doing stuff for folks when I can :)  Thanks much!

Heh...looks like all that art theft business got her account suspended as well! Oh, well.  Guess that's what happens.

Good job on this piece and good luck to ya!

I know this sounds mean, but I think that's very well-justified.  Going around stealing other people's work should never be tolerated.

Wow, thank you SO much for actually coming and apologizing. It's... incredibly rare that anyone has ever done that, most of the time when people take something of mine they deny it or just hide my comments and never respond. So for you to actually come and apologize means a LOT to me. Thank you so much for having a big enough heart to do so, and for being respectful enough to do this. I really appreciate that, and I really appreciate you being willing to respect my wishes!

Thank you again, and no hard feelings! :)

Absolutely, thank you for doing so.

For future reference, if you wish to copy another's work, understand that in general that is frowned upon, but if you really feel the need to do so (for practice or whatever), it's always best practice to get the permission of the artist before doing so. Some people are cool with it, some aren't -- most of the time I don't like having my work copied, but I know some folks don't mind. For those that grant permission, just make sure you credit them in your work and link to their original piece, and usually that's good enough to show your respect (if they gave permission in the first place). It's all about respecting others :)

Good luck, and have a happy holiday!
